Who is <Midnight> on Mal'Ganis?

First and foremost, Midnight is a progression raiding guild. Our fundamental goal is to experience and beat content while relevant and in a timely fashion. We desire to work efficiently and utilizing our raid times while balancing the forces that exist outside of World of Warcraft. Our members are mature and career oriented individuals (we generally range in age from the college student to the working professional), and as such we understand that events other than WoW will at time take precedence over raiding. We strive to make the most of our raid nights and have an active raiding oriented community on off-nights where we commune, run PuGs, prepare for raid nights, and/or enjoy playing alternate characters.

Midnight was initially established early in 2005 on Suramar and was the premier horde raiding guild on the server during that time. We claimed server first kills from Sunwell through Yogg-Saron. As a guild we decided to expand our opportunities and find a server that has the infrastructure to support competition among raiding guilds.

We have arrived on Mal'Ganis to fill a niche of a progression oriented west coast raiding guild. We raid Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 6:30 PM until 10:00 PM PST (8:30 PM CST to 12:00 AM CST). 10 man and alt runs are generally run after the 25 man raids and on off-nights.

Who are you?

We seek players that are able to play multiple classes and specs at a high level. Our desire is to keep a relatively small roster with highly competent players able to fill roles when needed. The ability to play and keep a toon geared at a high level ensures that we have a mutual dedication to each other to see our guild succeed. Do not deter! If you enjoy playing your one character and maximizing them to the fullest, then you are in good company. We seek to work with our members to fulfill their individual goals while maintaining focus on goals as a guild.

You enjoy theorycrafting, or at the very least reading other people's thoughts on specs, skill/ability usage, and gearing. Coming to raids prepared for the encounter and putting forth a consistently high effort with focus on the key elements of the fight is second nature to you as a raider. We're seeking players who enjoy the game (especially the PvE aspect of it) and want to be surrounded with players with similar goals.

How do we handle loot?

Our perspective on loot is that it is a means to defeat content. We actively attempt to distribute loot based upon the best allocation of resources to maximize the potential success. We do this by utilizing a loot council of officers and looking at past loot versus attendance.

Loot is awarded via an officer council. A measure of attendance and previous items awarded, known as a loot ratio, is used to help facilitate the decision. Loot ratio is determined by the number of hours raided in the past three months (loot hours) divided by the number of items looted in the past three months (loot points) plus one. Someone who has raided 100 hours and looted two items would have a loot ratio of 33.3. However, loot ratio is never the sole determining factor in the awarding of loot, especially for more rare drops, and loot points are only counted against the highest item level gear of progression content we are currently raiding (currently ilvl 258 and 264). Attendance, size of upgrade, and other factors always play a role. Things like mounts are awarded via a random roll amongst all players with extremely good attendance.
